Fire Prevention Programs

Fire Safety Programs
The City of Greenwood Fire Department will conduct fire safety programs to all age groups at no charge. The programs can be customized to last from ten (10) to ninety (90) minutes.

If you have any questions or would like to schedule any of the above programs, please contact The Fire Prevention Bureau at 864-942-8453 from 8am to 5pm Monday through Friday.

Fire Safety House
The Fire Safety House is used to instruct children what to do if their house should ever be involved in a fire. The training includes:

  • Kitchen safety;
  • Escape plans,
  • Crawling low in smoke,
  • Having a meeting place,
  • What to do if you are trapped in your room,
  • Calling 911 to report a fire.

Puppet Show
The puppet show is for all ages. The program includes skits with puppets to reinforce fire safety.

Station Tours
Station tours are available to all groups. A tour of Station One, our largest station, typically lasts about one hour. Stations 2 and 3 are also available for tours.

Fire Extinguisher Classes
Fire extinguisher classes can be conducted for any group. Two types of programs available. The first discusses the four (4) classes of fires and how to properly operate a fire extinguisher. The second is a live fire class where the participant actually extinguishes a fire. The group hosting the class must furnish the fire extinguishers.

In-Service Classes on Fire Safety
We can assist any business or industry with their in-service training on fire safety. This class can be tailored to the individual needs of the group.
