An Uptown Greenwood building will soon be home to a Wisconsin-based pillow and comforter manufacturing firm that’s expanding operations.
Officials on Wednesday announced that Down Home USA, based in Wisconsin, will move into a facility at 402 Maxwell Ave., creating 50 jobs as part of a $2.4 million investment. The site was formerly home to Self Regional Healthcare’s laundry operations.
“Down Home Manufacturing is excited to open our plant for business in Greenwood, and we look forward to growing with the community and adding quality jobs to the city. This is an important strategic move for our company. This allows us to serve our customers better and improve our ability to grow our business here in the USA. We look forward to working with the community leaders as we become part of the Greenwood business community,” company president Rod Ghormely said in a statement.
Codenamed “Project Down,” the venture is expected to open later this year.
“As a member of the Greenwood Partnership Alliance, we are excited to welcome Down Home Manufacturing to the City of Greenwood and look forward to having them join our community. We are strengthened by the capital investment and increase in opportunities for quality new jobs that a project like this brings to the city,” Mayor Welborn Adams said.
County Councilman Chuck Moates, whose district includes the new facility, was also excited.
“Greenwood County is a great location for warehousing and distribution, and we are excited about Down Home Manufacturing’s new ownership of the City Center building. Their investment and jobs within our community are greatly appreciated,” he said.
