BUILDING OFFICIAL - Click for full job description

Under the supervision of the City Manager, directs the entire inspection and enforcement processes of the Greenwood City/County Building Department, assuring orderly and safe construction within the community.  This position supervises the Building Department inspection staff, engages in plan review, issues permits, performs inspections, and provides interpretation and enforcement of building codes, property maintenance codes and associated local and state ordinances.  Coordinates enforcement and administration of construction with various other City and County departments.  Evaluates building plans submitted to the department to ensure safety of structures and to enforce City/County codes.  Must have considerable knowledge of city building and nuisance codes and ordinances which are applicable to zoning and code administration.  Associate degree or a minimum of two years college training in a Construction Management, Engineering, or similar related field. A combination of equivalent education and experience likely to provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered.  Certified Building Official (CBO) certification from the International Code Council (ICC) or the ability to obtain such certification within three (3) years.  The City of Greenwood is an equal opportunity employer.  Salary range: $62,545.60 – $87,588.80

The City of Greenwood is accepting applications for police officers. Salaries range from $30,784 to $38,917 depending on training and experience. Additional benefits include health insurance, SC Police Officers Retirement, and educational incentive pay. Applicants must successfully pass an oral interview process, drug test, medical exam, psychological screening, polygraph examination, and background investigation.

PUBLIC WORKS: EQUIPMENT OPERATOR:  Under general supervision operates several types of heavy and power construction equipment such as front loader, rear loader, side loader, dump truck, tractor, back hoe, front end-loader, etc. in performance of City related assignments. Performs other miscellaneous duties including landscaping, carpentry work, equipment, etc., as assigned.    Is responsible for general maintenance of the truck such as refueling and washing (interior and exterior).  High school graduate with six to twelve months of experience as a truck/heavy equipment operator or closely related position; or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Must possess a valid South Carolina Commercial Driver’s License. (CDL).  Base pay $14.50, commensurate with experience.

PUBLIC WORKS:  CREWMAN:  Under general supervision, performs general maintenance duties to enhance and maintain the streets and right of ways within the City including leaf and limb collection, mowing grass, planting flowers, weed removal, patching potholes, repairing sidewalks, installing and repairing street signs, event setup and other duties as assigned.    High school degree or equivalent with some knowledge in the field of lawn maintenance or construction preferred; or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform duties.  Applicants must possess a valid SC Driver's License.  Salary Range: $21,860.80 - $30,596.80.
