FIREFIGHTER:   Applicants must have a willingness or ability to train in firefighting methods and procedures with the expectation of acquiring certifications from the SC Fire Academy.

Responds to alarms, selects and operates equipment related to the suppression of fires, including rescue, advancing lines, entry, ventilation and salvage work.  Responds to hazardous materials incidents and technical rescue incidents that includes confined spaces and extreme heights. In addition, responds to incidents related to the emergency medical care of victims as a medical first-responder. Maintains all fire equipment and completes records and reports as required.  Assists in educating the public regarding fire prevention and safety.

Applicants must be at least 18 years old, possess a high school diploma or GED, and have a valid SC Driver’s License.  IFSAC Firefighter II Certification is preferred. The above stated position takes into consideration any equivalent training or experience.  

SCHOOL CROSSING GUARD:  Under general supervision, applicants must meet the physical demands necessary in exercising general responsibilities related to traffic direction. Applicant must have no convictions for any criminal offense that carries a sentence of one year or more or any criminal offenses that involves moral turpitude. Individual must be of good moral character (as determined by a background investigation).  Applicants must be at least 18 years old and have a High School diploma or GED certificate. Applicants must possess a valid SC driver's license with a good driving record. The City of Greenwood is accepting applications for police officers. Salaries range from $30,784 to $38,917 depending on training and experience. Additional benefits include health insurance, SC Police Officers Retirement, and educational incentive pay. Applicants must successfully pass an oral interview process, drug test, medical exam, psychological screening, polygraph examination, and background investigation.
