The City of Greenwood updated its City Center Master Plan in May of 2021, which was previously adopted in 2003. The existing plan helped facilitate over $23.6 million in public and private investment in the City Center – known as Uptown. Continuing the transformation of Uptown Greenwood will take staff, local leadership, and the community standing behind the same principled foundation – to reestablish the heart of the community in Uptown.

The 2003 City Center Master Plan culminated with the grand opening of the Greenwood Uptown Market Pavilion and completion of multiple streetscape projects throughout Uptown. Desiring to continue the momentum, the City realizes the importance of taking the pulse of the community, and performing an update to the master plan. Building on the legacy completed to date, the purpose of this Plan is to establish a vibrant gathering place for the arts, commerce, and community-building in the heart of the City Center.

The Greenwood City Center 2021 Master Plan is a document that will serve as a guide for all future redevelopment efforts in Uptown Greenwood. Centering around strategic public investment into the public realm to attract and spur private development, the city is looking into the following:
