The Greenwood Victim Services Office is responsible for assisting victims of crime. A Victim’s Assistant is on-call 24 hours a day to ensure there is help for a victim in times of crisis. The following service are offered through the Greenwood Victim Services Office:

    • Crisis Intervention
    • Emotional Support
    • Familiarization with the Criminal Justice System
    • Preparation for court appearances
    • Support while attending court
    • Referral to community resources
    • Assistance in seeking restitution and reimbursement
    • Assistance in filling application for the Crime Victim’s Compensation Fund
    • Assistance in filing orders of protection and restraining order

The South Carolina Office of Victim Assistance (SOVA) – 1-800-220-5370 (for victims only)
An office of the Governor, SOVA works to inform victims of their rights and provides training to local and state agency service providers who work with victims on a day-to-day basis. The SOVA website offers information regarding victim’s rights and victim assistance through the Crime Compensation Fund.

South Carolina Victim Assistance Network – (888) 852-1900
SCVAN works to enhance the public’s awareness of victim’s rights. Their website offers an extensive library containing over 1000 books, tapes, and other reference materials.

South Carolina Centers for Equal Justice – (864) 223-4879
Commonly referred to as “Legal Services,” SCCEJ provides free legal services in a wide variety of civil (non-criminal) legal matters to eligible low-income residents of South Carolina. The Greenwood serves Greenwood, McCormick, Abbeville, and Edgefield County.

McCormick, Edegefiled, Greenwood, and Saluda center that provides shelter for abused women and children and offers counseling for victims of domestic violence.

Provides crisis intervention services and counseling to sexual assault and sexual abuse victims, with specialized services for children.

Greenwood County Department of Social Services (DSS) – (864) 229-5258
DSS seeks to prevent or reduce family violence and to ensure emergency shelter and related assistance to victims of domestic abuse. The agency contracts with shelters and counseling programs to address the needs of victims of domestic abuse and their abusers.
